The birth

So here is the scoop on the birth. After my 40 wk appointment going so aweful, I set my induction date for Wednesday the 20th. That morning we were told be in by 10:00 a.m.
After all the needle work (NO fun) and the paperwork and such,
we were set to go with the pit and around noon. I was at a 3 and 75% effaced.

My Mom came with, as she has with all of my births! After a few hours on pit...with no medication or epidural, I was hoping for some great progress. I was doing well with the contractions and was hoping for some good news. They checked me and I had barely changed at all!! only at a 4! Seriously! Pit was on as high as it would go!! 4 hours for 1 cm!! GRR!

So th midwife broke my water at about 4:00 and then she sat in there and chatted with us for about and hour.  By the time she left I was feeling some pretty strong contractions and was really having to concentrate to not freak out.  No I am not one to have a "pain free" birth, but I am able to manage the pain by relaxation and things that I learned from hypnobirthing. By about 5:15 my Mom asked me if I thought I was in transition and I said I think so.  She ran out into the hall and got the midwife and told her she needed to come and she said "ok, I'll be there in a second and my Mom said "Um, she is in transition and you probably better come now!" While she was gone I was feeling contraction after contration with no break and pit still on full, I was starting to struggle and thought to myself, this had better be over soon or I may loose it! So the midwife came in and checked me and sure enough, ready to push!
In a matter of about 1 minute they had everything out and ready, I was feeling him decend and knew he was right there ready to crown.....Not a fun feeling! So I pushed about 6 times and then she said the cord was wrapped around himi 3 times and so she had me wait a second (which is very hard when the baby hid only crowned and you want him out!!) So after she unwrapped the cord, she said reach down and deliver him! So I did...I really helped deliver my baby!  I put him right up on me and I was DONE!!! At 5:30 MyKay was here!  At 7 pounds 8 onces and 20 inches long, he was finally here!
One hour to go from a 4 1/2 to a 10!! Crazy intence hour to say the least! But I will take it as opposed to those that have to endure hours and days of labor!  For sure!!!!

Daddy is so proud of his little boy!!

The girls came the next day, we took video of it but forgot to take a picture...lamo, I know!!
Still, they all loved him and were excited to see him! Kaliah was probably more amused with making the bed move with all the up and down buttons! ha ha

After 2 LONG days, we were so ready to be home! There was also a huge wild fire right by our house that we were concerened about.

Luckily we didnt have to evacuate.  They evacuated the neighborhood just to the north of us, but we didnt have a manditory evacuation, we were just on notice. We were glad to be home and we were so greatful to have Karen, Dereks mom here holding down the fort and watching the girls for us!
So glad to have him here!!  Love him to pieces!!!

She turned 8 in April, I am running a little behind on the pictures....fpr obvious reasons!
She loved playing soccer this year, and she did really well at it!
But we finally got them done!!
In her Beautiful baprtism dress!!
She is growing up so fast!!
She is a smart and kind and wonderful girl!
I know you are thinking that I am in trouble when she is a teenager.....
Trust me, I know, I am worried!!
This was a funny face, but I thought it showed her silly side.
She loves to read and play outside
(that part she did NOT get from me!)
She is going into the 3rd grade and is super excited to be
attending the Charter school in our area.
She is a very social person and loves spending time with friends.
(again, not from me!)
She is often a perfectionist
(that one is from me...he he)
She loves to take care of Kaliah,
and Kaliah loves to be babied by her!
She loves to draw and color. She is pretty darn good at it!
She can draw so much better than I ever could!
Lately one of her favorite things is to put on
talent shows with her sisters that they spends all day preparing for!

She has crazy long eyelashes and is a beautiful girl.
I am only a little jelous!
She is growing up to be a wonderful person and I am happy to be a part of her life!

Comparison

So all my kids look like their Daddy, And this one is no different. Here is a comparison of our baby pictures with his.
And just for kicks and giggles, here is Kaliah
 MyLee
MyKenna
And Saileen, it was kind of fun seeing all of these side by side.  They all have their own look, but they all look more like Derek than me. That's OK though, I gave birth to them, I know that they are mine ;)

1 week old!!

1 week old already!!

How is it that the last week of pregnancy goes by soooooo SLOW and then they are born and time seems to fly?! One of those mysteries of life I guess. I just adore this little man!!
I was thinking that I need to post about his birth, but then I thought that maybe people don't want to know that much detail. So if you are interested in hearing it, than I will post about it. So you tell me.
Do you want the details or are you content to look at pictures of this cute little guy?

40+ weeks

Soo, I went to my appointment yesterday after a week of walking and doing everything under the sun (which was a Very hot sun last week, I might add) to get this kid here, and I was hoping to have a little progress, I wasn't expecting much, but something would make me feel like I didn't do all that work for nothing.

The Midwife checked my cervix and this paticular midwife informed me that I was not as far progressed as the last 3 midwives had said.  In stead of being 2 cm dialated, she said I was a 1 1/2, and in stead of 70% effaced, she said I was 50% and instead of him being at a station 0, she said he was at like a -1 or maybe even a -2.

Someone should tell this woman that you should NOT say such things to a pregnant woman who is now over due!!!  She started our conversation by coming in the room saying "well, there is no calander in there to tell him that the due date has come and gone. don't worry, it will come."
She was not on my good side.  That comment was befor she even checked me.  So after telling me all that I told her I was to be induced on Wednesday.  She said, we can set an induction date for early next week.  I told her "I don't want to go past 41 weeks, and I would like to be induced on Wednesday." So she said she would go check with the hospital.

So that is it.  Tomorrow is the day.  And after telling all this to my Mom she told me that it was her fault that I got the genetics and that each of my siblings was 2-3 weeks overdue and my Oldest brother was 4 weeks overdue.  WHAT!!!  How did I not know this??? You mean I could be pregnant with this kid for 2 more weeks and STILL end up being induced??  That solidified my decision to go forward with the induction.  It is not my ideal situation.  I really wanted to go into labor on my own, but if I am looking not at days, but weeks more of possibly being pregnant, or working my tail off and walking miles in the heat to get him here.....an induction didn't sound so bad.

So next time you see me, I will have a baby!  I will post pictures as soon as I can, so you all can finally see what a boy looks like from our family!!!

39 weeks

So I am now 39 weeks, still a 2 and 70%. He did move from a minus 3 station to a 0, which means he is much lower down and I can tell for sure!!
We will see when he deides to come......
I am thinking Saturday is a good day to have a baby, we will see if he agrees! ;)
