As most of you know, I started at 3 days before my due date trying to get her here. I walked and walked and did everything I could think of to get her here. After my due date came and went I to give it a rest and decided that she will come when she comes.
At my 41 week apointment I was measuring small and had lost 2 pounds, they wanted to do an ultrasound and she measured the size of a 38 week old. So they sent me home and a started walking again, hoping to get things started. Then they called me and said that the doctor on call wanted me to come in and be induced. I was kind of bummed that I was going to have to use pit, because I was hoping to go natural, but for the babies saftey I decided to do it.
So we went in and they broke my water and I went from a 3 to a 5 on a matter of minutes, so I thought I was going to be able to avoid the pit. But after more walking, I wasn't making hardly any more progress. So they started pit and I was doing well relaxing through it and after about and hour or so I was at a 6 and 80 percent efaced.
We decided to use the tub. I was in there for about 10 or 15 minutes and I was starting to feel like I wasn't handeling contractions as well in there. I said "if this is a 7, I don't think I can do this!"
I decided to get out but before I could get out I felt a lot of pressure and they called the nurse In and she checked my cervix and with a suprised look said "you're having a baby!" She rushed out of there and I went to get out and I stood up and then the contractions got so intense that I couldn't even move!
My mom and Kathrine were standing there holding me up and then we realized that I may not make it to the bed. Thankfully I did get to the bed, barely, and then I just started to push cuz I really couln't stop if I wanted to. In about 4 pushes she was out. I didn't even see anyone in the room until after she was born because I was so focused on what I was doing. I am just glad someone was there to catch her even if I had no idea at the time who it was at the time.
So I went from a 6 to delivery in about 45 minutes. It was fast to say the least. After all was said and done I was happy with how it went. I still wish I could have gone into labor on my own, but maybe it is a good thing that I didn't. I would probably not have made it to the hospital in time.
I have been suprised at how well recovery has gone. I can deffinitly tell a defference there. Also it was AMAZING to me that the very second that she was born, all the contraction stopped completely. The human body really is an amazing thing.
I am glad I did hypnobirthing. I don't think I could have done it without the things that I learned. I have also found myself using the techniques they teach to relax in other areas of life.
So There you have it....That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
